dey gru ^ txtN -- w@ wl biznessz nd 2 do?

Translation: "they grew up texting -- what will businesses need to do?"

The amount of texting members of the Millennial Generation do is staggering. All one needs to do is to go to a mall, be outside a high school at the end of a school day, or watch your kids to witness how texting has been integrated into the fabric of life of these younger Americans.
What will this mean as they enter the workplace in greater numbers?
The 2008 "Networked Families" report by the Pew Internet and American Life Project coined a new term to describe the role of technology in family communication -- the "new connectedness". It is only reasonable to project that Millennials (born 1982-2002) will expect that texting will also be used for "connectedness" with their bosses and co-workers.
Obviously texting is in the workplace. However, the percentage of people who texting is part of their life will significantly increase as Millennials continue to pour into the workplace over the next decade.
Organizations must strive to understand how to integrate technologies like texting into the recruitment, management and HRM of younger workers.
Future postings will further explore this as well as other issues that deal with generations in the workplace and marketplace.
